Why does the quality slider disappear when I select PNG?

PNG is a "lossless" format. This means it is designed to preserve 100% of the original pixel data without any compression degradation. Because you cannot lower the visual quality of a true PNG to save space, the slider is disabled. The slider only applies to "lossy" formats like JPEG and WebP.

Will my image dimensions change?

No. This tool specifically handles format encoding. The width and height (pixel dimensions) of your original image will be preserved exactly. If you need to shrink the dimensions, please use our Image Resizer tool.

Can I convert animated GIFs?

You can upload a GIF, but because the HTML5 Canvas only renders static frames, the tool will extract and convert only the very first frame of the animation into a static JPEG, PNG, or WebP.
